Vincent van Gogh wandelde vaak lange afstanden door de omgeving van Etten-Leur. Hoe mooi is het om nu in zijn voetsporen te kunnen lopen door Van Gogh Nationaal Park. Deze wandelroute (14 km) is een puur natuurwandeling die start en eindigt bij De Menmoerhoeve. De route is, net als de Van Gogh Fietsroute, verkrijgbaar in de Etten-Leur City Shop.

Na een lange zoektocht naar zijn identiteit, inspireerde het eenvoudige dorpse leven in Etten-Leur de jonge kunstenaar Vincent Van Gogh om een levensveranderende stap te zetten: hier besloot hij dat hij kunstenaar wilde zijn. Hier vond hij het lef om zijn eigen pad te kiezen. Een kenmerk wat veel terug te zien is in de vorming van de plaatsen.

Etten-Leur: the landscape that touched and inspired Van Gogh Van Gogh started his artistic career in Etten-Leur in 1881. For Van Gogh, nature and art were intrinsically connected. Vincent took lengthy walks here and the heathland landscape, the countryside and the farming life enchanted him. The long-distance walk (14 km) is 98% unpaved.

Etten-Leur. Eind april 1881. - 27 nov. 1881. Vincents ouders woonden tussen 1875 en 1882 in Etten-Leur. Vincent bracht er vaak de feestdagen door en in 1881 woonde hij er een aantal maanden. In oktober 1875 verhuisde familie Van Gogh van Zundert naar Etten-Leur, omdat vader Van Gogh daar dominee werd. Vincent woonde destijds in het buitenland.
